“Tomorrow marks 3 months since my first group training at Club24…
I’ve really enjoyed the work-outs and look forward to the variety. This evening I was reflecting on the last 12 weeks and decided I’d take a few minutes to share some thoughts and observations.
Several months prior to making the switch to Club24, I had heard someone from Club24 talking to the KONA radio guys about the training classes. For some reason that stuck in my mind and I remembered it when I started looking for a new gym. Club24 on Gage is on my way to/from work, so it is a perfect location for me. I stopped one day on my way home from work; Gilbert showed me around and talked about the group classes. He offered a 1 week free trial, so I really didn’t have anything to loose. I found that I really liked the classes…the routine is pre-planned; I don’t have to think about what exercise to do on a given day or wait in line to use a piece of equipment. Just show up and put in the work. Results followed. I signed up for the Group Training membership after my trial period expired.
My results are not as fast or dramatic as what I want, but most things in life never really give you instant gratification. Over the past 3 months, I’ve dropped about 15 pounds, 2% body fat, have had to buy smaller pants, am sleeping better, and have more energy. Thanks to all the trainers for their support!
What ‘clicked’ and made me start coming in 4-6 days/week? I can’t really say for sure. Maybe it was another so-so check-up with the family doctor and him telling me (yet again) to get more exercise. Maybe it was seeing myself in pictures. Maybe it was frustration with clothes that were getting tighter. Whatever the case, something clicked and I actually look forward to my daily work-outs.
My motivation for continuing is the fact that I HAVE seen some results. Without some kind of tangible results, it is so easy to stop. The training staff ensures that I don’t just slog through 30 minutes on the elliptical; they push me to keep going and working harder each day…something that I wasn’t managing to do when working-out on my own. There can be a fine line with their pushing, especially considering that I’m 49 and most of the trainers are in their 20’s and 30’s (who wants someone the age of their son or daughter telling them what to do?). They all do a great job of walking that fine line; motivating and pushing, without making me feel foolish if I have to take a break partway through an exercise.”
